How energetic are they?
Fireflies are very energetic. Each second a firefly releases as much energy
as 25 Megatons (25,000,000 tons) of TNT! That is as much as the most powerful nuclear
bomb ever made (but thankfully never tested).
Another way of looking at it is to say the energy released in one second
from a solar firefly is enough to supply the world with power for 6 mins (using
1997 world energy consumption figure).
