Coulombs Law


Coulomb's Law describes the force that one electric charge will exert on another:

"The force that one particle exerts on another particle is directly proportional to the product of their charges and inversely proportional to the square of their separation."

The force is directed from one charge to the other where,

q1 is the net charge of particle 1.

q2 is the net charge of particle 2.

d is the separation of the particles.

The unit of the electric charge is called the Coulomb (C).
