Burning up the Sun

You must be pretty good at mental arithmetic, because I assume you just worked out the following:

4,000,000 tonnes = 4,000,000,000 kgs = 4 x 10⁹ kg = 4 x 10¹² g

But I remember the mass of the Sun is about 10³³g and so it is going to last 10³³ / 10¹² seconds. That's 10²¹ secs which is approximately 300,000,000,000,000 years

Phew, nothing to worry about then. So even though the Sun must be the original and best 'gas guzzler' it really does have plenty of 'gas' to last!
