This movie shows two planets entering the field-of-view of the LASCO C3 telescope. Mercury passing from right to left and Jupiter passing from left to right. The bright line through each planet is not physically connected with the planets. The detector of the telescope produces this effect because the light from the planets is very bright. The black line in the image is the post that holds the occulting disc in place.
