Crazy or lucky?

Well everyone's a little crazy at times. This job is sometimes hard work and frustrating - like when my computer breaks down...

...on the other hand imagine what it feels like to discover something new about the Sun, that no-one else knows. That can be a lot of fun.

I also get to see interesting places when I visit the spacecraft control centres or go to conferences. Here's one of my favourite places

Photo by Enrico Landi, Arcetri Observatory, Firenze

It's near Florence in Italy. The observatory where we work is just a short walk from Galileo's house, where he did the first astronomical observations with a telescope. You can find more information about Galileo's first observations of sunspots in the "Sunspot" adventure. By the way, Italian food is pretty good too!

In general, astronomers are good at organising meetings in far away places.

So my vote would be for "very lucky".
