Robots

Oops! I had second thoughts after I had written that because, in a way, someone did build a robot to help me in my work.

Answer::: It was the SOHO spacecraft!

Even though SOHO doesn't have to go to the Sun to collect a sample of the Sun's atmosphere, it does have to go into space to collect a sample of the Sun's light.

Answer:: The light I need to study from the Sun is ULTRAVIOLET light. That gets stopped by the Earth's atmosphere and so telescopes on the ground aren't any use for this kind of work.

More details about the SOHO spacecraft are available on the other SunBlock '99 pages, but if you don't make it that far, remember it really is just a very clever robot!
