Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727)

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day, 1642. He was still under 25 years old when he made many startling advances in physics, mathematics, optics and astronomy. From 1669 to 1687, he was Lucasian Professor at Cambridge University.

Newton is now regarded as one of the greatest scientists the world has ever known.

There is a street in Paris named after him (Rue Newton) as well as a crater on the Moon!
