SOLAR FLARE LEAVES SUN QUAKING

SOHO Scientists have discovered that very violent solar explosions (called solar flares) can cause Solar-Quakes. These are very similiar to earthquakes on our own planet.

This image shows the solar quake expanding outwards like ripples on a pond. The scientists calculate that the quake contained about 40,000 times the energy released in the great earthquake that devastated San Francisco in 1906. The amount of energy released was enough to power the United States for 20 years!!
