December 1999============================================================================= DATE: 01-Dec-1999 DOY: 335 OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): R. Yurow / C. Maroney SCIENTIST: T. Kucera CDS INSTRUMENT: An ESR was manually triggered at ~19:15 after a spacecraft maneuver was automatically aborted. This caused CDS to return STANDBY mode. The spacecraft substitution duty cycle was then reduced to 60% on COBS #63 while COBS #62 was disabled. This change was made to compensate for the new CDS operating mode (internal heaters are enabled in STANDBY mode). Yurow / C. Maroney SCIENTIST: D. Zarro CDS INSTRUMENT: CDS remains in STANDBY mode. Attempted reboot of CDHS to clear parity errors and shorten recovery time. However, CB3RESET failed to trigger a CDHS reset. CDS is currently in STANDBY mode with secondary (science) processor enabled. The CDHS will have to be reset prior to resumption of instrument operations. A parity error was detected in thr primary processor memory space, it will be cleared during CDS recovery. Maroney SCIENTIST: D. Zarro CDS INSTRUMENT: CDS was returned to SNOOZE mode at 17:47 UT followed by a CDHS reset at 17:48 UT. At 18:14 UT CDS was returned to STANDBY mode and at 19:01 UT spacecraft substitution heaters were disabled. Recovery procedures were completed at 19:25 UT. Following the recovery, a mechanism test was successfully performed. CDS doors were then opened at 23:18 UT. Finally, a NIS image test and pointing test were performed. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. Ron worked out the bugs in the FFCAL and we ran FFCAL again, howeverm the script then had to be aborted due to end of the test period. A second test has been scheduled for Friday (351) at 15:30 UT. Breeveld CDS INSTRUMENT: Instrument temperatures are eleveated by between .5 - 1.0 DegC. Base panel temperature remains stable ~23.0 DegC. Have instructed interns to keep an eye on instrument temperatures over the weekend. Another test run of FFCAL was made at ~15:30 UT. Script seemed to behave as expected. Nominal run time may however be in excess of 1 hour. May need to trim some pointings from script in order to reduce run time and OPS motor temperature (+25.0 DegC). CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal.
