CDS INSTRUMENT:
The CDS Science plan was aborted at 21:33 UT. The Science Plan was
executing the Emergency Study since 01:00 UT, which had been appended to the
plan by mistake.
CDS warmstart recovery procedures were begun at 21:37 UT by going to
STANDBY. The CDS primary processor was reset at 21:42 UT. CDS was brought
back up to READY_BOTH at 22:52 UT. Upon returning to READY_BOTH, it was
noticed that the patches on the GIS had become corrupted.
All 3 GIS patches were successfully loaded at 23:22 UT. CDS recovery
procedures were completed at 23:48 UT. CDS is nominal after the recovery.
The Science Plan will resume at 02:00 UT (DOY 281).

CDS INSTRUMENT:
At 11:22 UT, CDS experienced a WATCHDOG Event Error. This caused CDS to
violate Red Low limits due to the MCU being disabled in SNOOZE Mode. The
MCU was re-enabled at 11:29 UT, when the CDS went to STANDBY, because no
command was issued within 3 minutes. Next recoverable pass will be at
19:40 UT (with NRT at 20:15 UT).
CDS Recovery procedures were started at 20:29 UT by returning CDS to
SNOOZE Mode. The CDHS was rebooted at 20:30 UT and the LOBT was distributed
at 20:33 UT. CDS was returned to READY_BOTH Mode at 21:22 UT and recovery
procedures were completed at 21:40 UT. CDS is nominal at following the
recovery.
The Science Plan will resume at 02:00 UT, DOY 288.

DATE:28-Oct-2003

OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): C. Maroney / R. Yurow
SCIENTIST: J. Ireland
CDS INSTRUMENT:
CDS observed an X18 Flare at 11:02 UT (s28816r02) which caused a proton
storm (MEV/50 levels peaking just below 10^3). CDS was safed by aborting
the on-board study, disabling the DCS, GIS HV, NIS HV, and homing the
mechanisms.
A Science plan was prepared and loaded to start as early as 00:30 UT
(DOY 302), in case proton levels subsided and a late recovery was possible.
However, proton levels are still above a safe operating level, so recovery
will be reassessed in the morning.
CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal.
DAY PLAN: No Science Operations.
COMMENTS: CDS is Safed due to Proton Storm!

CDS INSTRUMENT:
An X11 Flare occured which resulted in another spike in Proton levels.
CDS will remain safed another day until proton levels subside.
A parity error was detected on the Primary Processor at memory location
#8007a67f. This is in an unused portion of memory. No action necessary.
CDS GROUND SYSTEM:
The following studies were imported in to the EOF:
uclan_mv_1.def
