Yurow SCIENTIST: L. Green CDS INSTRUMENT: The science plan was aborted at 20:01 UT in order to observe a C9 flare. At 20:07 UT the study MPIFLAR2 was started at the wrong location due to errors calculating the pointing and using the wrong slit (6 instead of 1). GIS detectors 1, 3, 4 triped at 20:10 due to excessive count rates. All three detectors were reset by 20:12. The MPIFLAR2 study was rerun at 20:14 with the correct slit, but still at the wrong location, at 20:12. The normal science plan was resumed at 21:40 UT. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. COMMENTS: ============================================================================= DATE: 29-Oct-1999 DOY: 302 OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): R. Yurow / C. Maroney SCIENTIST: T. Fredvik CDS INSTRUMENT: A telemetry submode change from submode 5 (CDS medium rate) to submode 4 (CDS low rate) occurred at 20:02 UT. A telemetry submode change from submode 4 (CDS low rate) to submode 5 (CDS medium rate) occurred at 20:13 UT. A telemetry submode change from submode 5 (CDS medium rate) to submode 4 (CDS low rate) occurred at 20:49 UT. A mechanism lubrication study was completed at 22:29 UT. The NIS was reset at 22:49 UT clear the error status word. At 23:17 UT the CDHS crashed while uplinking the science plan for the weekend. The crash caused caused toggle bit errors on all subsequent commands sent after the crash. CDS was reset at 00:24 UT DOY 303 and the LOBT was sent at 00:32 UT DOY 303. During the reset, CDS came up on processor 1 resulting in a loss of all of the patched program modules. CDS was therefore put in a safe state until recovery efforts could continue on DOY 303. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. DAY PLAN: Science Operations. COMMENTS: ============================================================================= DATE: 30-Oct-1999 DOY: 303 OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): R. Yurow SCIENTIST: T. Fredvik CDS INSTRUMENT: CDS was returned to SNOOZE mode at 16:27 UT in order to begin uploading the CDHS patches which had been lost during the recovery of the previous day. All 4 patches were reloaded by 17:15 UT, however a subsequent memory showed the defered module also appearing in the extended module list. Given the difficulties with doing a memory dump in telemetry submode 4, it was decided to continue on with the recovery. In addtion to reloading the CDHS patches, all 3 GIS were also reloaded in order to bring the GIS software up to version 2.6. Reboot procedures were completed at 19:41 UT and the science plan was resumed 20:20 UT, albeit with the wrong GSET due to a bug in CPT. A parity error was detected in the primary processor memory space at 23:22 UT. Since the error was in a safe location, no reboot was necessary. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. DAY PLAN: Science Operations. COMMENTS: ============================================================================= DATE: 31-Oct-1999 DOY: 304 OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): R. Yurow SCIENTIST: T. Fredvik CDS INSTRUMENT: GIS detector 1 tripped at 2:47 UT, probably due to doing off limb observations with the wrong GSET. The FOT reported that CTM31 began flagging intermittently. This was caused by an elavated spacecraft panel temperature (~22.0 C). CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. DAY PLAN: Science Operations.
