Alam CDS INSTRUMENT: Doors closed today at 16:24 UT in preparation for thruster firing. Spacecraft anomaly forced CDS not to run for 6 1/2 hours. CDS will not take more data until the previous data has been accepted by the spacecraft. Therefore, CDS waited until telemetry was reacquired before beginning the studies again. Due to the packet times being corrupted by this problem, we need to reboot tomorrow before opening doors. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. DAY PLAN: Science Operations. Haskell CDS INSTRUMENT: Began a test of Telemetry Submode 3 at 19:08 UT. The test is scheduled to end at DOY 269 00:00 UT. The telemetry point CIVMCP (NIS Micro Channel Plate Current) went into HIGH-ALARM at 20:08:42 UT. It returned to normal at 20:09:57 UT. The FERUPT study used to support JOP050 was pointed at the incorrect position due to a combination of the pointing being set by the QCM study and an incorrect duration of the SSAR and CORO24W studies. Basically, SSAR and CORO24W ran over their scheduled durations, and when the FERUPT study, which was timetagged, had executed its 'cb5abort', it prevented the QCM study, which was scheduled to run after CORO24W, from running, which therefore didn't allow the proper pointing to be set. Adjustments were made to subsequent plans to correct this. CDS GROUND SYSTEM: Nominal. DAY PLAN: Telemetry Submode 3 Test, Science Operations. COMMENTS: ============================================================================== DATE: 30-September-1997 DOY: 273 OPERATIONS ENGINEER(S): C. Haskell SCIENTIST: D. Zarro CDS INSTRUMENT: Two watchdogs occurred today: one at 05:00, and the other at 13:30. The first occurred just before the end of NRT, therefore the reboot had to wait until the next pass at 09:45. During that pass, station problems only allowed for 30 minutes of NRT. So, the reboot could not be finished. CDS was left in a safe state but no science plan could be loaded. When telemetry resumed at 16:10, it was found that another watchdog had occurred. During the reboot of this one, the GIS would not boot into ready_both mode properly. CDS was taken to STANDBY mode, but then it began rejecting commands to the CDHS. Eventually, it did take a certain sequence of commands and the reboot was able to complete.
