FOUNDER of NATURE

Lockyer believed in the cooperation and exchange of information between scientists on an international basis and had the idea for a periodical in which the latest advances in all areas of science could be presented. In 1869 he found a publisher and established the journal NATURE. He remained editor for the next 50 years until shortly before his death in 1920.

Today NATURE is probably the most prestigious scientific journal in the world covering all aspects of science research.
